Quick interview with Duane Dewey*
Q: What are some of your favorite memories of your college career?
A: Playing with Paul Mainieri, the current LSU Head Coach, at Miami-Dade North for his father, Demie.  Also playing with Randy Bush (Twins) at Dade North.  Everything at LSU was great, especially my teammates.
Q: What are some of your favorite memories of the minor leagues?
A: Pretty much all the teammates through the years.  Going to Omaha for the first time.  My first home run in AAA.
Q: What was the first thing you did when you got called up to the Major Leagues?  What were your thoughts, emotions, etc.?
A: Called my wife.  Disbelief as I was called up from AA, Gene Lamont was my manager.
Q: What was the closest you came to getting into a game for the Royals?
A: John Wathan was the catcher, he took a foul ball off of his foot and I was up getting loose, he stayed in the game however.
Q: What was your favorite memory of your time in the Big Leagues?  Any regrets?
A: Meeting the team in Boston, (the team was) playing in Boston.  We also were on the Saturday Game of the Week while in KC during my stay.  No regrets!!
Q: What were your feelings on being traded to the Yankees?
A: I loved the Royals organization and was very proud to be in the organization...but the Yankees are so historic.  I looked forward to competing for a job.
Q: Why did you only play one game in the Yankees organization?
A: I started the season in AA, I was 25 years old, a college graduate and ready to start graduate school at LSU.  I asked to be traded or released and they released me early in the season.
Q: Does it irritate you that you are not included in the MLB record books and the Royals All-Time Roster even though you accumulated active service time in the MLB?
A: No, I really wasn't aware.
Q: Finally, what have you been doing post-baseball?
A: I went back to LSU, went to graduate school in business and have been a banker/investment professional for 23 years.  I am currently a divisional President at Trustmark Bank in Jackson, Mississippi.
