| From
the Kansas City Royals 1969 Yearbook: |
| Mel has 42 years of
nearly continuous major league service, with distinguishments from his
playing and coaching careers. He won 223 games for Cleveland from
1928-47, then helped develop the Indians' foursome of Bob Feller, Bob
Lemon, Early Wynn, and Mike Garcia during his first coaching
assignment. He has the vital task of molding the Royals' young
pitching talent. |
